In association with Get Your OJ, This week, the RNDTBL goes to "High School Art Class" with Pretty Lights. Below are the results.

JESS SAYS: Pretty Lights's "High School Art Class" is a style that I have had very little exposure to, but if all drum and bass is this awesome, I clearly need to open my ears. The horn section got me hooked right from the start.

This is super groovy and I will most defnitely be adding this song to my current itunes rotation.

4.5/5 stars

AARON SAYS: This one starts off very inviting with it's 2 step kick beat and hard power guitar, but like much of the songs like this, its lyrics weaken its power. They're more filler than thriller. Sampled from another track and thrown on this beat.

I say go all or go nothing...

The production quality is there but the sounds and samples are from the turn of the millenium. I say if you're a person who still loves that turn of the century electro funk sound, this tunes for you.

I give this song a 3 out of 5

JASON SAYS: Although it might sound less original after repeated listens, I think this band is onto something. The sound is catchy, the beat is catchy, the sample is catchy, with just enough “glitch”.“High School Art Class” made me want to keep digging and see what else this band was capable of.

In the first edition of RNDTBL, Jess, Aaron and Jason have a listen to Black Mountain's "The Hair Song":

JESS SAYS: Black Mountain's "The Hair Song" is normally something that I would totally dig. It has a major hipster vibe and the video looks like it was shot in one of my favourite places to discover new music, Guelph.

However, this band and this song is mediocre at best. I feel like I've heard this sound many times before, just done much better by countless other bands in the 90s. To Black Mountain, I say, try something a tad more original.

2.5/5 stars.

AARON SAYS: It's about time we had another band like Lnyard Skynard back in industry and here they are. "The Hair Song" is I'm assuming a single from their latest album and although this writer does not particularly like this song, the sound itself is amazing. The influence and maturity of this group is something I'd like to investigate further. I would recommend these guys to any fans of good soulful rock music.

Strong roots guys, I give you a 4 of 5 with a definite 5 of 5 for interest.

JASON SAYS: I like this tune. I dig the dual vocals. That said, we’ve heard this sound before. Countless times. I feel like I shouldn’t like it as much as I do. There isn’t much original about it, but somehow it just works. It’s just a fun, catchy rock song that I could easily see making a home on a station like Indie 103.1, or even KROQ. I think this Canadian band is headed for success, I’m just not sure that they’re something special.

BBC 6 Music has seen it's audiences grow by 17% over the last three months. The radio station, which was saved from being closed down last month -thank god- is by far one of the best stations on the planet. The numbers don't lie. In fact, they are up more than 100% following the controversy that stemmed from the station almost being shut down for good.

The station now has has weekly audience of 1.2 million.

John Lydon has said that performing on stage has helped him cope with the passing of his father.

Lydon, who reunited with his other band The Sex Pistols a few years back, says that it is Public Image Limited that represents him best.

The punk rock icon explained,

"PiL songs are wrapped up in a personal experience. I'm soul-searching. PiL explains me better than the Pistols. I'm not some cold, indifferent pop star. The media tried to wrap me up as that back then, but people who come to enjoy PiL know I'm more than that.

Amber Tamblyn Joins House

Apparently for the next season of House, Amber Tamblin is joining the cast while Olivia Wilde steps out for a few episodes.

Honestly, I don't know if I know who Amber Tamblin is, because I never watched General Hospital or Joan of Arcadia, but she seems to have a decent resume, and we all know that Dr. House likes girls with her look.

If nothing else, it keeps things fresh, because as much as I miss Dr. Cameron, the revolving characters have, in the end, helped the shows longevity.

Tamblyn apparently enters the show as a new med student House hires to his diagnostic team. Next season should be interesting.
